Found a Bug? How to Report an Issue with the District Website (yorkscouts.org.uk)
Our public website,
yorkscouts.org.uk, is the front door to our District. Parents use it to join our waiting lists, and external groups use it to book resources. If you notice a broken link, missing content, or a form that won't submit, our media team needs to know right away so we can fix it.
To keep things organised and ensure bugs don’t get lost in a webmaster's personal inbox, all website issues must be reported by submitting a HelpDesk ticket using our standardised template.
The Reporting Process
Our digital support team works through a queue system. Following these steps ensures your issue is automatically routed to our website administrators.
- Copy the Website Issue Template - Highlight and copy the text block in the section below. Having this information filled out prevents unnecessary back-and-forth emails.
- Open the HelpDesk Form - Navigate to our digital request portal or click the main contact option on the intranet homepage.
- Paste and Complete the Template - Paste the template into the main description box and fill in the details.
- Submit and Track - Hit submit. You will receive an automated email confirmation containing your ticket reference number, which you can reply to if you need to attach screenshots.
Copy & Paste Website Template
Please paste this exact layout into the ticket description and fill out the details as accurately as possible:
Why the specific template matters: Web pages look drastically different depending on whether you are browsing on an iPad, an Android phone, or a work desktop. Knowing your specific device type and the exact web link saves our volunteers hours of searching for the root cause of a glitch!
